About Us

How We Support Environmental Education

  • Provide practical support for teachers across all phases and subjects of formal education. This involves introducing new pedagogies, discussing teaching and learning strategies, exploring assessment techniques, and sharing existing good practice in relation to environmental education.
  • Participate in government educational initiatives, actively seeking to enhance environmental education.
  • Provide information about environmental issues, and links to other environmental groups and organisations through its membership and website.
  • Provide ideas for and organises its own INSET provision.
  • Hold conferences and similar meetings where practitioners exchange views and ideas, and learn about new developments.
  • Provide a national voice for everyone in education whose work concerns the environment. NAEE represents their views in education discourse at all levels.
  • Argue that environmental education needs to be:
    - an integral part of all learning from pre-school to university and beyond, and subject to inspection
    - a required focus in all initial teacher training, and accredited through professional development.
  • Encourage educators to work together to raise the level of environmental concern and action through environmental education.
  • Actively encourages all educational institutions to become examples of good environmental and sustainability practice by adopting and effecting environmental policies, and participating in whole school approaches to environmental action.
